David Fiddler is an Ojibwa - Cree and a memeber of the Keewaywin First Nation, East of Sandy Lake, a fly-in community Northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was born in 1959 in Sioux Lookout and raised in Sandy Lake, Ontario.
David started painting off and on since the early 1980's. He is a self-taught artist who, with the encouragement from elders, is inspired to keep his art alive. David's style of art is along the Woodland style. He's always been interested in Native arts and painting. He began painting because he believes that his art can help people to be aware of all existing life in nature.
By expressing himself through his paintings, David hopes to remind people of how beautiful and important the animals and their environment are.
He uses acrylic paints for their vivid, bright colours but enjoys learning about different paints and techniques to develop his unique style.
